In Northern Ireland, the system for dealing with children and young people, aged 10 to 17, who offend is different and separate from that for adults.
There are different types of offences and the periods for disclosing them are in general half the time that adults have to wait. There are also rules that are different in relation to filtering and how this is dealt with. We have a comprehensive guide laid out that is useful to clients, their parent/guardian, as well as professional Youth Justice practitioners and other relevant agencies. Please find here as well a guide to the system in place in the Republic of Ireland. We are also available to offer advice on individual cases and how to deal with disclosure should it be needed.
